Paul LaRosa currently is a member of the Ryan Opera Center of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. During the 2010-11 season the artist makes a debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a concert presentation at the Hollywood Bowl of Bernstein’s Candide, singing the role of Maximilian, conducted by Bramwell Tovey, and celebrates his European debut in performances of Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem under that baton of Lorin Maazel with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana. For his debut with the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Mr. LaRosa sings the roles of Rambo/Officer in John Adams’ The Death of Klinghoffer directed by James Robinson and conducted by Michael Christie and returns to the stage of the Lyric Opera of Chicago as Morales in Carmen conducted by Alain Altinoglu.
Mr. LaRosa’s performances of the past season included his Lyric Opera of Chicago debut performing Kuligin in Káta Kabanová, conducted by Markus Stenz, and the role of Cascada in The Merry Widow, conducted by Emmanuel Villaume. He bowed as Dandini in Ryan Opera Center performances of La cenerentola and returned to the Castleton Festival to sing the role of Don Quijote in Falla’s Master Peter’s Puppet Show under the baton of Lorin Maazel.
Mr. LaRosa was graduated from Williams College with Bachelor of Philosophy and Bachelor of English degrees.
