Christophe Dumaux Counter-tenor

Born in France, he took masterclasses with Noëlle Barker and James Bowman during his late teens. In 2000 he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique, appearing in L’incoronazione di Poppea, conducted by Emmanuelle Haïm. He made his professional debut as Eustazio/Rinaldo (Montpellier, Berlin, Innsbruck, recorded by Harmonia Mundi, conducted by René Jacobs). He has sung the title roles in Tamerlano (Spoleto Festival USA); La Calisto (Luxembourg); Eliogabalo (La Monnaie); Sosarme (Saint Gallen); Orlando (Champs-Elysées Paris). Other roles include Ottone/L’incoronazione di Poppea (Glyndebourne Festival, Opéra National de Paris, Geneva); Ottone/Agrippina (Santa Fe); Unulfo/Rodelinda (the Metropolitan Opera, Dallas); Tolomeo (Glyndebourne Festival, Pittsburg, The Barbican, Vienna, Chicago, Madrid...); Armindo/Agrippina (Copenhagen). This season sees him in a new production of Handel's Jeptha conducted by Ivor Bolton and in the autumn he returns to Theater an der Wien for Britten's Death in Venice. Next year he makes his debuts at De Vlaamse Oper and Amsterdam Opera before returning to the Paris Opera. Concerts engagements include Messiah (Les Arts Florissants); Dido and Aeneas, Handel’s Dixit Dominus and Bach’s Magnificat (Le Concert d’Astrée under Haïm) and a recital tour with the the Freiburger Barockorchester.
