Stéphane Degout Baritone

Internationally-acclaimed French baritone Stephane Degout graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon.

Since his triumphant debut as Papageno at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in 1999, Mr. Degout has appeared at the Opera de Paris (La Bohème, Die Zauberflöte, Ariadne auf Naxos, Die Tote Stadt), the Berlin Staatsoper (Orfeo), the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie (Orfeo, Pelléas et Mélisande, Cosi fan Tutte), the Theater an der Wien (Orfeo, Pelléas), the Metropolitan Opera (Romeo et Juliette), the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (La Cenerentola), the Salzburg Festival (Cosi fan tutte) and the Glyndebourne Festival (Cosi fan tutte).

Equally renowned as a recitalist and concert singer, Mr. Degout made his New York recital debut at Lincoln Center in 2004. In upcoming seasons, he will give recitals in Brussels, London and Amsterdam. He will return to the Metropolitan Opera (Pelléas & Mélisande conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, Le Comte Ory) and make his debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago (Die Zauberflöte).

Mr. Degout has recorded Werther and Cosi fan tutte along with Pelléas et Mélisande in DVD format for Virgin Classics. He has recorded La Bohème for Deutsche Grammophon.
