Robert Gleadow Bass-Baritone

Full Biography

 

A graduate of the Jette Parker Young Artists Program of the Royal Opera, Covent Garden and the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio, Robert Gleadow made his COC debut at the Altamira Summer Opera Concerts and appeared in the Ensemble Studio production of Dido and Aeneas, The Coffee Cantata and La Bohème (Colline).

In the 2009-2010 season, Mr. Gleadow appears with Opera de Lille in Dardanus and makes his Houston Grand Opera debut as Angelotti in Tosca. He also reprises the role of Colline in La Bohème in Abu Dhabi and makes his debut at Glyndebourne as Guglielmo in Così Fan Tutte. On the concert stage, Gleadow performs in Paris alongside Natalie Dessay in the Christmas Oratorio.

In the 2008-2009 season, Mr. Gleadow appeared in Don Giovanni at Covent Garden and in a Peter Sellars production of Tristan und Isolde for L’Opera de la Bastille under Bychkov. Gleadow also returned to the Canadian Opera Company for concurrent performances of Colline in La Bohème and Theseus in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He reprised the role of Colline in his Dallas Opera debut. On the concert stage, Gleadow performed the Mozart Requiem in Paris.

Mr. Gleadow's 2007-2008 season included a run as the title character in Le Nozze di Figaro with COC, in addition to a European tour with the Orchestre d'Astree under the baton of Emmanuelle Haïm. Mr. Gleadow also made his debut singing Colline in Santiago di Chile. In the studio, Gleadow recorded the role of Lorenzo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi for Deutsche Grammophon with Anna Netrebko.

In the 2006-2007 season, Mr. Gleadow performed at the Royal Opera House in such roles as Colline in La Bohème and Angelotti in Tosca. Concert work included the St. Matthew Passion and Mozart's C minor Mass with the Halle Orchestra conducted by Mark Elder, and the Mozart Requiem with Ensemble Mattheus conducted by Spinosi. Mr. Gleadow returned to Toronto, Canada to sing a concert with the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra under the baton of Richard Bradshaw singing Mozart arias and French opera arias and duets. Gleadow also performed in a star-studded gala celebrating the inauguration of the new hall at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
