Brad Cooper was born in Sydney and studied at the Sydney Conservatorium, the National Opera Studio in London and with Marilyn Horne on a fellowship to the Music Academy of the West, California.
In recent seasons Brad has performed in concert with Anna Netrebko and Ruxandra Donose in Moscow, sung the role of Davey in Jonathan Dove’s Siren Song for the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam (live recording released on Chandos Classics), appeared as Conte Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia for Opera Holland Park (London), sung the role of Aubry in Marschener’s Der Vampyr for Amsterdam’s Grachtenfestival, created the role of Clem in the World Premiere of Snow White by Micha Hamel for the Nationale Reisopera in the Netherlands and made his English National Opera debut in The Coronation of Poppea. Other roles include Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola, and Le Chevalier in Dialogues des Carmélites, roles of Emilio in Pedrotti's Tutti in Maschera for the Wexford Festival and made his French debut as Gunther in Wagner's Die Feen for the Théâtre du Châtelet under Marc Minkowski. He also took on the role of Kornélis in Saint-Saëns’ La Princesse Jaune for the Kammeroper in Rotterdam.
Brad has most recently performed Don Alonze in L’Amant Jaloux at the Opèra Comique in Paris.
In the 2010/11 season, Brad will return to Oper Köln to sing both Tamino in Die Zauberflöte and Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail.
