Artist Website

In 2000, Emmanuelle Haim gathered together a group of singers and instrumentalists who shared not only a great musical experience and love of the human voice, but also a common temperament and stylistic approach which is both expressive and natural: this led to the founding of her own Baroque music ensemble, le Concert d’Astrée, which she has led within three years to great acclaim, performing from Paris to New York and in numerous Festivals in France and abroad. In 2001, the Foundation France Telecom became the sponsor of Le Concert d’Astrée and Emmanuelle Haïm. The latest also signed and exclusive recording contract with Virgin Classics. In 2003, the Orchestra was awarded a Victoire de la Musique for the best ensemble of the year. During the 2004-2005 season, the Concert d’Astrée took up residence at the Opéra de Lille, where they gave their first stage performances: Handel’s Tamerlano and Monteverdi’s Orfeo in Fall 2005. The ensemble gave several concerts there such as Handel’s Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno, Pergolèse Stabat Mater, Mozart’s Mass in C minor… and performed in the Opéra National du Rhin, Théâtre de Caen, Opéra de Bordeaux as well as in Théâtre du Chatelet, Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Arnal de Metz, and abroad – in Concertgebouw Amsterdam, in the Barbican Center in London, in NY Lincoln Center, in Vienna Konzerthaus, in the Postdam Festival….
