Lyubov Petrova Soprano

Born in Russia, Lyubov Petrova made her hugely successful Metropolitan Opera debut in 2001 as Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos.

Ms Petrova’s roles include; Ariadne auf Naxos (Zerbinetta) at Los Angeles Opera and the Paris Opera, I puritani (Elvira) with Palm Beach Opera, La traviata (Violetta), Lyudmila in Glinka’s Ruslan and Lyudmila, the title role in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Snow Maiden, Marfa in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Tsar’s Bride, and Xenia in Boris Godunov.

Past seasons have seen performances in Ariadne auf Naxos (Zerbinetta) for the Teatro Real in Madrid, Roméo et Juliette (Juliette) for Pittsburgh Opera, The Magic Flute (Pamina) for the Metropolitan Opera, the title role in Massenet’s Manon at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Un ballo in maschera (Oscar) for Houston Grand Opera, Orlando (Angelica) and Betrothal in a Monastery (Louisa) at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, Rigoletto (Gilda) for Washington National Opera, excerpts of Der Rosenkavalier (Sophie) in concert with the Atlanta Symphony and a highly successful debut at Glimmerglass Opera as Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare to which she has received outstanding reviews.

In the 2008/9 season Ms Petrova sang Le nozze di Figaro (Susanna) for Dallas Opera, Rigoletto (Gilda) for Austin Lyric Opera and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor for Central City Opera.

The 2009/10 season sees performances of Norma at the Bellini Festival in Italy, Ariadne auf Naxos (Zerbinetta) with Washington National Opera, the title role in L’arbore di Diana at the Teatro Real in Madrid and returns to Glimmerglass Opera for Le nozze di Figaro (Susanna). Looking further ahead Ms Petrova will sing Roméo et Juliette (Juliette) for Netherlands Opera and Dallas Opera.
